West Virginia Secretary of State
Compliance Request

Secretary of State
Jurisdiction
The Secretary of State is not a
law enforcement agency, but West Virginia Code provides specific areas of
authority to investigate violations of law. In some cases administrative
action may be pursued, and in other areas, information and evidence may be
turned over to a county prosecuting attorney or U. S. Attorney.
Go to Investigation
and Compliance Jurisdiction for more detailed examples of matters in
which the Secretary of State may investigate and/or pursue action.
Other Enforcement
Agencies
If the Secretary of State has no
jurisdiction over the violation for which you are requesting help, we will
provide contact information for appropriate enforcement agencies that may be
able to help you. We will not be able to make those contacts for you,
but we will try to connect you with the best resource for assistance.
Filing a Complaint
The Secretary of State will not commit
investigative resources based on an anonymous complaint when the source
cannot be contacted. However, if you feel threatened and do not give
your name, we will take the information you provide under advisement in case
other related complaints are filed.
If
you have technical problems using this form, please write compliance@wvsos.com
about your concerns in order to receive prompt attention.
